People from Chumlaki Village Are Holding Protest Demonstration

October 15, 2009

Residents of the village of Chumlaki in Gurjaani district are holding protest demonstration to request re-opening of the nursery school in the village.

According to the official information, municipality board decided to close the nursery school in spring of 2007. Organizers of the protest demonstration stated local officials and Kakheti regional governor had promised them to reopen the kindergarten though in vain.

Gurjaani district governor Giorgi Chiviashvili clarified that the nursery school was not reopened in Chumlaki because of lack of funds in the district budget. “19 000 GEL is envisaged for the rehabilitation of the buildings of closed nursery schools in the district. In several days the rehabilitation process of the building will start and in a month the nursery school will renew its functioning,” said the district governor.
