Unreasonable Expenses At Gurjaani District Administration

October 28, 2009

Audit examination exposed unreasonable expenses at Gurjaani district administration. More precisely, high-ranking officials from the district administration have received sums as bonuses for “perfectly implemented activities” though they have not done anything.

“Based on the decree of the district administration, in order to increase the revenues to the local budget and eradicate the deficiency in revenues” before February 9, 2009 a working-group of 5 people was set up. The salary-fund for the group was 2,300 GEL. Although the group was set up, none of the abovementioned activities were done and neither deficiency in budget was eradicated. However, in the report time, according to the decree of the district administration, the bonuses were paid to the group-members for “implementing their duties perfectly”,” states the audit report.

Giorgi Chiviashvili, Gurjaani district governor, said he had no information about unreasonable expenditure of the budget. However, according to the official information Chiviashvili personally transferred the bonuses.
