Today Parliament of Georgia starts discussion a bill on amnesty for drug addicts.
According to the draft-law, prisoners who illegally bought, kept or transported drugs or similar substances, according to the first part of Article 260 of the Criminal Code they will have their sentences halfened.
According to the prisoners convicted under Article 273 of the Criminal Code will also have their sentences halfened.
Besides that, the amnesty will be released for the people, who are not convicted yet.
According to the Law on Amnesty, they will not reduce the additional sentences and it will also cover
Amnesty will not be announced for the people who are in pre-trial detention.
Legal, Human Rights and Healthcare Parliamentary committees will discuss the bill about amnesty. They will discuss it on plenary session for the first time on Tuesday.
