Refugee Children from Chechnya Cannot Get Education

November 9, 2009

Refugee children from Chechnya, who live in the village of Tsinubani in Pankisi Gorge, cannot go to school. They should go to Duisi Public School. Duisi is about 5 kilometers away from Tsinubani. Children should walk there, because the bus does not run between the villages. The way to the school is quite dangerous.

According to the refugees from Chechnya, they met wolves on their way to school. They hardly escaped the danger .The most difficult situation is in winter. There are difficult climate conditions in the Pankisi Gorge.

The head of Akhmeta district administration, Koba Maisuradze said that district administration works to appoint bus for children to go to school.”We are working on the local budget. Besides this, UNHCR promised to give mini-buses to us”, said the district governor.
