Trial Date not Set for Juvenile Georgian Detainees in Tskhinvali

November 12, 2009

Date for trial and other case materials on juvenile Georgian detainees are not known yet. The information was released by Tskhinvali based de-facto Committee for Information and Printed Media.

“There is no new details cleared up yet; we do not know the date of trial either. The investigation is under way,” stated the representatives of the de-facto Committee. They do not know where the detainees are and whether they will be able to get in touch with their families.

Separatist militiamen arrested four Georgian children Giorgi Romelashvili, Aleko Sabadze, Viktor Buchukuri and Levan Khmiadashvili, residents of the village of Tirdznisi on November 4. De-facto authority blames them for illegal storage of explosives and illegal crossing of the so-called border.

Government of Georgia urges international organizations for help. However, participants of the Geneva International Consulting on November 11 could not reach agreement on the issue.
