Manana Kobakhidze: There Is Very Hard Situation In District Courts

December 14, 2009

According to Manana Kobakhidze, the head of non-governmental organization “Article 42 of the Constitution”, there is very hard situation in district courts.

“The independent attorneys, who will have monitoring status of non-governmental organization, should observe trials in district courts. The monitoring will seriously influence the realization of the right of the fair trial”, said Kobakhidze.

Reportedly, the opposition parties requested the foreign diplomats during the meeting last week to monitor several trials. Before that, opposition parties and non-governmental organizations actively worked on the issue of political prisoners.
