Extremist Decision of the Parliament

People who will be registered in Tbilisi from January 15 to June 1 2010 will not participate in the local self-government elections next year. They will receive only residence cards instead identity cards, and with this document they will not be able to take part in the elections.

This decision was announced by the chairman of the law committee of the parliament of Georgia Pavle Kublashvili at the special session of the Parliament. According to him printing and distribution of the residence cards will be funded from the budget.

Chairman of the Parliament Davit Bakradze called this agreement “extremist decision”. Bakradze is sure that this decision will exclude spread rumors as if the government starts mass registration of people from the regions in the capital.
