Moved to HR Department!

January 11, 2010

About 50 high ranking officers were put in charge of the HR Department after the ministry of defense held certification; they applied to the human rights organization “Justice and Freedom”, for help.

According to Irakli Sesiashvili, the head of the organization, many officers, who were put in charge of the HR Department, hope that in two months (before their salaries are compensated) either they will be reemployed or appointed to other positions. However, it is difficult to say how grounded their hope is, because President Mikheil Saakashvili announced personnel optimization on December 25, 2009 and thanked the minister Akhalaia for it publicly.

“They carried out very painful reforms in secret – among them in the personnel too. They made very serious certifications; the level of each officer and soldier was seriously developed. The requirements were also increased and we will recruit new people in the Armed Forces now and in future”, announced Saakashvili.

However, according to experts, the president claims that personnel reorganization in military department finished in secret and without complication in vain. If the government does not try to employ military officers in the military or civil sector, they will try to appeal to the court.

According to Irakli Sesiashvili, tens of military officers applied to his non-governmental organization for legal aid. The government confiscated their permits of the ministry of defense and turned off their service mobile phone numbers and put them in charge of HR department. The last phrase is equal to social disaster in Georgia. If you have some protector at the HR Department, you might be recruited; but otherwise you have to put up with the idea that within two months, the government will cease to pay compensations and you will join the largest army of unemployed, poor and the most helpless people.
