Journalist Nika Avaliani Became the Deputy Minister

Journalist Nika Avaliani was appointed to the position of deputy State Minister for Diaspora of Georgia, Papuna Davitaia.

Nika Avaliani was presenting business news in the morning program at the Public Broadcasting, before that he worked at Business Kurier at TV-Company “Rustavi 2”.

He is connected with incident in front of the PB during protest rallies in spring of 2009; activists of opposition parties abused him physically. The incident later repeated in front of the Tbilisi Police Department on May 6. The police dispersed demonstrators who demanded release of those detained young people who had physically abused Nika Avaliani. They had information that law enforcement officers tortured the detainees.

Later Catholic- Patriarch of Georgia reconciled the young people.
