Data Akhalaia and Irakli Kodua on the List of Observers

January 19, 2010

Ukrainian website “Forum-meta” publishes the list of 1078 persons from Georgia who applied for the registration as observers for the presidential election of January 17, 2010.  See here

Davit Akhalaia and Irakli Kodua are on the list; by the way there are no female observers on the list. Donadze, Basishivili, Shota Utiashvili, Gorozia, Guram Kakalashvili and other names which are known in Georgia as representatives of MIA or as famous supporters of the “National Movement” are on the list.

We tried to find out at the MIA if Kodua and Davit Akhalaia really are high-ranking officials of the MIA. The head of ministry administration Shota Khizanishvili did not confirm the fact. According to Khizanishvili, he can say for sure that Davit Akhalaia and Irakli Kodua which are mentioned in the list are not high-ranking officials of the ministry.

According to the copartners of the leader of the political party “Regions” and pro-Russian presidential candidate Victor Ianukovich, Georgian authority sent officials of law enforcement bodies as observers for presidential elections of Ukraine.
