January 20, 2010

Notary from Tskhinvali continues verifying of Russian copies of Georgian IDs of Akhalgori district population. Akhalgori population reported about it.

“Many people want apply for the verification, because we cannot enter the district without them. Thus notary from Tskhinvali continues working today. We have our IDs verified as well as the birth certificates of our children,” said the residents of Akhalgori district.

According to them, Russian copies of Georgian documents will be checked on Russian and Ossetian checkpoints.

“Besides that, according to these officers at those checkpoints, the residents of other districts and cities of Georgia will be able to enter Akhalgori district if they have IDs verified in Russian,” said residents of Akhalgori.

According to Russian border- guards, from January 20 the residents of the district should provide verified Russian copies of Georgian IDs and birth certificates to cross the administrative border of Akhalgori. Russian militaries and Tskhinvali Regime explain this by the fact that Russian border-guards do not know Georgian.
