President Saakashvili Is not Going to Schedule Meeting Security Council in regard with Ukrainian Scandal

The president of Georgia does not satisfy the request of Irakli Alasania, leader of “Alliance for Georgia” and refuses to hold a session of Security Council in regard with the scandal in the Ukraine. Manana Manjgaladze, the spokesperson of the president, said at the briefing in Avlabari residence: “The president of Georgia is ready to invite sessions of Security Council in regard with state concerns but he is not going to grant this particular request, because the number of political parties take advantage of this topic for their political goals”.

“We have organized sessions of Security Council about important topics in our country. However, the politicians, who request to hold a session in regard with Georgian observers, have not taken part in previous sessions. The president’s administration considers that their request is nothing more than pre-election campaign. Thus, we will not schedule the session”, stated Manjgaladze.

“The Alliance for Georgia” requested the government to hold session of the Security Council. According to Irakli Alasania, “the society has got more and more questions about Georgian observers in Ukraine, and it is ground to invite the session as soon as possible and request liability of high-ranking officials”.

Ukrainian media outlets published two secret recordings of phone-conversations several days ago. The recordings are about Georgian observers. According to the Ukrainian media, in the first recording Vano Merabishvili the minister of internal affairs of Georgia is talking with Givi Targamadze, the head of defense and security parliamentary committee.  They spoke about transportation of 2 000 Georgian observers to Kiev in one of the recordings. In the second one Targamadze is sorting out the issue of Georgian observers with certain Konstantin .
