Impoverished People Are Going to Hold Protest Rally In front of Social Agency

Socially disabled people requested to start criminal prosecution against Zurab Natroshvili, head of Social Agency of Dedoplistskaro District. They accused him in illegally granting social allowance to poor families. Unless the situation is changed within several days, they will start permanent hunger-strike.

According to them, the agency granted allowances to rich people instead impoverished ones. Galina Abulashvili who lives in Leselidze Street said family of her neighbor Sesili Nateladze was a good example of it. According to her, Sesili Nateladze has rented out several hectares of plot in Shiraki, they have three houses in different places and also they have bakery in Dedoplistskaro District. Despite that, the family of Nateladze gets social allowance of 125 GEL a month.

According to Zurab Natroshvili the head of Social Agency of Dedoplistskaro district, the family of Nateladzes really gets social allowance. Natroshvili blames social agent Gia Guguneishvili in this violation who filled in the declaration of the family.

According to Gela Mtivlishvili, coordinator of Kakheti region office of the Human Rights Centre, the poverty reduction state program is implemented ineffectively in Kakheti Region:”At least 20 people apply to our office a day with the complaint about the program. The majority of families are beyond poverty level, but they do not get social allowance or the government stopped allowance. For example, one family was so poor that their two children died because of cold and starvation, but the agency did not grant allowance to them. However, the families who have a car, who get salaries and have other income get the social allowance.

It is noteworthy that Otar Sesikashvili, the head of Kakheti region Social Agency, is uncle of Vakhtang Megrelishvili, the former deputy healthcare minister.

According to Mtivlishvili, Sesikashvili was appointed on the position by his nephew and the latter has great influence at the ministry.”Despite the inefficient implementation of social program in Kakheti Region, and number of complaints of impoverished families nobody starts criminal proceeding against Sesikashvili”.
