Today Traders of All Markets In Tbilisi Will Go on Strike

Population is ready for the protest rally. All markets located in Tbilisi will go on strike in Tbilisi. Employees of markets and supermarkets will hold a protest rally in front of the parliament on February 2.The traders will protest tax changes, which are put in force today and is a serious burden for population. According to the new changes, all traders should prepare proofs of payment for all products. Otherwise they will be fined with 5 000 GEL for the first fact, and in the second case they shall be fined with 10 000 GEL.” The government creates unbearable conditions for us. They are going to put the new tax law into force from February 1, which entitles them to fine us. We do not work today. We will hold a protest rally in front of the parliament on February 2 and if it ends without result we will use to other forms of protest”, traders reported to the news agency Pirveli. Leaders of opposition parties joined the rally. Today Koba Davitashvili, the leader of “People’s Party” will hold briefing with traders near the shopping centre “Kidobani.” “This people cannot wait even one day. The government makes them to go on strike. We were going to apply to the City Hall for the permission to hold a protest rally, but these people cannot wait for 5 days, when tax inspector come and fine them. Thus we will hold briefing near the shopping center at 12:00 pm today. We will gather in front of the parliament on Tuesday at 2:00 pm. Government cannot behave like that”, the leader of People’s Party reported to Pirveli. Reportedly, ordinary people will join the traders and the employees of shops, who will hold protest rally in front of the parliament.
