Traders Hold Protest Rally in Zugdidi

February 2, 2010

Traders are on the protest rally in front of the Zugdidi district Tax Inspection.

Individual entrepreneurs protest amendments to the Tax Code. According to them, they were informed about legislative changes later and it is impossible to work in such conditions.

According to several demonstrators, they were fined illegally and authority tries to restrict entrepreneurs.

Yesterday traders protested amendments in Tbilisi. According to the amendments, traders should provide proofs of payment for all products. Otherwise they will be fined with 1 000 GEL for the first occasion and with 10 000 GEL for the second time.

According to the Deputy Minister of Finances of Georgia Irakli Siradze, amendments do not deal with the trade. “This change has no connection with retail trading; in the case of business agreements parties shall provide invoice. The amendment does not concern the private or retail trading,” stated the deputy minister.
