Ianukovich Celebrates; Timoshenko Calls Upon Voters to Protect Their Votes

Leader of Region’s Party Victor Ianukovich already celebrates his victory in the presidential elections of Ukraine. “We have passed long way till this victory. I have travelled throughout Ukraine and looked into the eyes of people who do not want to continue living in this situation. They request changes. First steps are already taken for changes,” said Ianukovich.

He said he would do everything for economical development of the Ukraine. “Living conditions of people shall be improved. We should not look for enemies in our country and in our politics. We should fight against common enemy – poverty, irresponsibility and corruption,” said Ianukovich after first results of exit-polls were published.

Prime-Minister of the Ukraine Iulia Timoshenko calls upon her supporters to protect their votes. Timoshenko made the statement at the press-conference after the results of the exit-polls were published.

“We call upon you to protect your votes. Results of the exit-polls are ordinary sociology. It is early to speak about the victory of any of the candidates before final results are published. I want to thank to everybody who has voted for me,” said Timoshenko.

According to the Central Election Commission of the Ukraine, 97, 34 % of votes have been calculated by the afternoon of February 8. According to the results, Ianukovich gained 48, 34 % and Timoshenko gained 46, 05 % of votes.

Difference between the gained votes of both candidates is 2, 19 % (earlier it was 2, 09 %). 4, 41 % voted against both candidates. In total, 11 805 065 people voted for Ianukovich and 11 247 248 people voted for Timoshenko.

CEC will publish final results on February 17.
