Givi Targamadze Might Be Resigned

February 9, 2010

Discontent about high-ranking governmental official Givi Targamadze has become very serious. Parliament does not exclude possibility of discussing his resignation at the session, though it is only rumor so far.

Parliamentary majority is irritated by unsuccessful monitoring mission during the presidential elections in the Ukraine; chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security Giorgi Targamadze was leader of the mission. The reason of irritation is not only political side of this fact and the awkward situation which was created about Georgian observers; but the problem is quite a large sum which was allocated for this mission and was in fact wasted.

Although colleagues do not criticize him publicly, unofficial information is spread in Parliament, that majority is going to make Targamadze responsible for the recent activities and it might become reason for his resignation.
It is noteworthy that Targamadze has not appeared at the legislative body so far. Several MPs claim he returned in Tbilisi after first round of elections, but according to others Targamadze is still in Kiev.
