Did Gigi Ugulava Spend Tbilisi City Budget on His Bride?

Koba Davitashvili, a candidate for Tbilisi Mayor and leader of People’s Party accused Gigi Ugulava in corruption and requested to start criminal prosecution against him.

Koba Davitashvili: “I have a document which proves that Gigi Ugulava transferred 9.277 GEL from Tbilisi Budget to the MP Giorgi Meladze on September 18, 2008 and on October 24, he transferred 2 539 GEL to his bride who was deputy head of city hall department Lela Kiladze. The arbitrarily wasted money is more than 10 000 GEL.

Everyone knows that nowadays Lela Kiladze is Gigi Ugulava’s wife; Giorgi Meladze is his friend and member of his political group. There is no official clarification of the purpose of the abovementioned transfers. It is illegal action and corresponding bodies shall start investigation on the fact.

According to the information of press centre at the City Hall, President Mikheil Saakashvili, MPs, Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava and deputy head of the Tbilisi City Hall administration Lela Kiladze were on business leave in the USA. Media Sources were informed about the visit. The abovementioned funds were allocated for the business leave and it was recorded in the expenditure protocol of the city budget”.

We have to underline that Giorgi Meladze did not work at the City Hall on October 24, 2008, he was already MP and Tbilisi City Hall should not have spent money for his business leaves.
