The Government Confiscates Building of Charity Fund

February 26, 2010

The Charity Fund of Saint Ann and Saint Francesco are expecting eviction. Svetlana Kudba, the head of the fund, got information about confiscation of the building 4 years later when the ministry of economic development sent letter to her.

In 1995 Adjara Supreme Council assigned two-storied building with total space of 822 sq. meters to the Charity Organization. In 2006, Levan Varshalomidze, the head of Adjara Government abolished the conclusion of the legislative department and registered the building as a state property.

The head of the fund, Svetlana Kudba appealed to the court on the same year, but the court did not discuss it and said Svetlana Kudba did not appear to the trial. Gia Kartsivadze, the lawyer of Kudba states that the court did not inform her client. They falsified signature on protocol.

The Charity Fund of Saint Ann and Saint Francesco is located in Zviad Gamsakhurdia Street #42, in Batumi. It is old Batumi. The ministry of economics and finances of Adjara states they want to change old territory of Batumi. Besides that, Abesalom Gurgenidze, the official of the ministry considers that the decision of Supreme Council is illegal.

The Charity Fund of Saint Ann and Saint Francesco gives dinner to poor people every day and they also shelter to homeless people.
