Ambassadors Request Explanations about “Fake Chronicle”

March 15, 2010

International community is fairly concerned about “Fake Chronicle” released by TV Company “Imedi” on March 13. Deputy foreign minister of Georgia Nino Kalandadze stated about it at the usual briefing on March 15.

According to Kalandadze, several ambassadors got in touch with her and she promptly informed them about the situation.

As for the evaluation of the program, the deputy minister states that the ministry of foreign affairs cannot make any comments since the Imedi is an independent TV Company.
“It is activity of independent TV Company. State department is entitled to make neither positive nor negative comment on its activities. I personally was concerned by the fact. The public protest is fair. International community is fairly astonished too,” said Nino Kalandadze.

The deputy minister hopes international community will assess the fact objectively and will not see the government’s participation in the fake reportage.
