Georgian Young Lawyers Association offered free legal assistance to the people victimized by the simulated reportage of the TV-Company Imedi released at 8:00 pm on March 13, 2010. In accordance to the Article 992 of the Civil Code of Georgia “A person who intentionally or negligently publicizes or discloses facts causing property loss to another person shall be bound to compensate the loss thereby arisen if these facts are evidently wrong,” stated the representatives of the GYLA.
“Please, send information (name and contact data) about the people victimized by the simulated reportage to the following email address: tgurchiani@gmail.com or visit our legal aid centers in the regions of Georgia,” statement of the GYLA.
According to the information spread by various sources, after the special Chronicle of March 13 people got panicked in the cities of Georgia; people were standing in queues in the shops and at petrol stations; many people called ambulances. Health conditions of several people, among them of an under-age girl, worsened. By unconfirmed information a woman died after the reportage was aired.
The simulated Chronicle showed the events of June 7 2010 as if the opposition lost elections, rebelled, Russia took advantage of disorder in the country and invaded Georgia completely. The information was spread about assassination of the President Saakashvili. According to the TV-Company “Imedi”, part of the opposition assisted Russia to occupy Georgia.
