“It is clear that President does not appoint reception days for citizens, but it is direct responsibility of the City Mayor?” asked residents of Davit Gareji Street #2 in Rustavi. They want their problems to be settled.
“We have not had electricity supply for two months already. We have never had gas supply. Nobody speaks about gasification yet,” said Gocha Alutinashvili.
24 families live in the building at the moment. Their debts on electricity bills have amounted to 7 000 GEL. They explain that the problem was created by lack of meters and the families who had lived in the building before, left unpaid bills. Meters are not installed because the building is not privatized. Its owner is Ministry of Education and Science.
“We will be able to resolve the problems of the residents only after the Ministry of Education and Science assigns the building to us. But we do not know when it will happen,” said the spokesperson of the Rustavi City Hall Nino Kordzaia.
Building located in Davit Gareji Street # 2 belongs to the Ministry of Education and Science. In the past vocational institute No 141 worked there. Socially disabled people sheltered the building without permission because they had nowhere to go.
The Rustavi City Hall comments on the complaints of citizens about impossibility of meeting with the Mayor Mamuka Chikovani through media sources. In the interview with the humanrights.ge Rustavi City Hall confirmed that the Mayor of the city really does not have reception days for citizens.
“Since January 1, 2010 there is a reception-room for citizens in the City Hall; citizens can leave letters and complaints there. Letters from this reception-room are redirected to the corresponding departments. Finally all the letters are introduced to the Mayor,” replied the spokesperson.
