Nana Kakabadze: Prisoner Is Dying in Gldani Detention Setting

According to the head of the non-governmental organization “Former Political Prisoners- for Human Rights” Nina Kakabadze life of the 30-year-old prisoner is in danger in the jail hospital of Gldani prison.

On September 6, 2009 police arrested Nadim Tsetskhladze arrested in Batumi.

“Former military servant was fighting in Tskhinvali during the August war in 2008. Batumi City Court sentenced him to 6 years of imprisonment under article 388, part 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. Tsetskhladze served his sentence in Geguti prison. Family members saw him healthy on February 10, 2010. On February 22 when his relative visited him again, prison personnel informed to him that Tsetskhladze was taken to reanimation department of jail hospital of Gldani prison on February 11.

Family members managed to visit the prisoner only on March 4. He was unconscious. Prisoner had ulcers and wounds on his body. According to the family-members, his lower limbs are paralyzed. Supposedly Tsetskhladze was injured in Geguti prison,” stated Nana Kakabadze.

According to her, family has not received medical conclusion on the injuries of the prisoner yet.

“We request Public Defender to visit Vadim Tsetskhladze immediately and study his situation. According to the family members his life is in danger and administration does not take proper actions to transfer him to the city hospital, where he will take proper medical treatment,” stated Nina Kakabadze.
