Transparency International Denies Its Connection with TV Advertisement of the Government

April 1, 2010

Influential international organization Transparency International categorically denies its connection with the international advertising campaign of the government of Georgia. In the advertising roll, which was running on BBC and CNN in February, Georgia is mentioned as the number first state in the world in the fight against corruption. However, Transparency International has never made similar statement.

“The advertisement was made based on the information of the Transparency International. The data of the Corruption Index was misinterpreted in the advertisement. The secretariat of the TI and Transparency International Georgia expressed their concern regarding the advertisement and agreed both TV-Channels to release only corrected version of the advertisement.”

“TI is ready to assist the government of Georgia to use their information and evaluations correctly in the fight against corruption,” statement of the international organization.
