Pre-Election Road-Reconstruction Boom In Guria

April 19, 2010

On April 16 chairman of the road department of Georgia Ramaz Nikolaishvili visited the Ozurgeti-Bzhuzhhesi-Shemokmedi road together with Guria regional governor and director of the “Gzamsheni-18”.

Nikolaishvili spent only 5 minutes to observe the 17-kilometer-long road and then met the media.

“I want to tell you that it is very important road. We intended to rehabilitate this road long before and finally we decided. It is the road which will lead us to Gomi. Most part of the reconstruction activities will finish in May,” said Nikolaishvili in his interview with journalists.

Guria regional governor Valeri Chitaishvili said large-scaled road reconstruction activities are going on in Guria.

“It is noteworthy that more than one hundred local workers are employed on the reconstruction of the road. And furthermore, the mountain of the resort Gomi starts from the end of this village. People faced problems to get to the resort because of the poor road,” said Chitaishvili.

The director of the “Gzamsheni 18”, who will be candidate of the United National Movement in the village of Shemokmedi, said “there is road-reconstruction boom in Guria region.”
