Prisoners Cannot Sleep Because of Cold

April 19, 2010

Central heating was turned off at the Gldani prison # 8. The administration said the reason is spring time.

The lawyer of the Human Rights Center Eka Kobesashvili was reported by prisoners that central heating has been turned off for two weeks already. There is unbearable cold in the cells; particularly at night. Because of cold prisoners cannot sleep. The relatives are not allowed to send warm clothes to them.

The bailiffs tell the convicted they can have only one pair of warm clothes and it has no sense to ask their attorneys to send additional warm clothes.
