Population VS Trucks

April 29, 2010
The residents of the Demetre Tavdadebuli Street in Batumi protested the movement of trucks in their street. They blocked the road several times; the final protest was organized on April 27.

“One day, the truck drove into the play-ground. Luckily children were not playing there. Besides that, the drivers of such a huge trucks breach traffic rules and drive at a high speed; thus we have witnessed plenty of car-accidents in the area. The walls of our houses have cracked because of their movement,” said one of the residents.

The population requests the trucks to move along the different street. They have petitioned to the Batumi City Hall regarding the problem but nobody considered their request.

Officials of the City Hall arrived at the protest demonstration on April 27 and promised the citizens to inform the corresponding agencies about their problem; they promised to help in resolution of the problem.

The deputy head of the department of public services and amenities Tengiz Petridze arrived at the place; he confirmed that the drivers really breach traffic rules and do not obey the traffic signs.
