Tsotne Gamsakhurdia Started Hunger-Strike Again

May 4, 2010
On May 3, the son of the late president, Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, started hunger-strike in the jail hospital.

Press-center of the political party Round Table reported that the reason of his protest is the incident which happened in the jail hospital.

“On April 30, the director of the hospital Bugliashvili ruthlessly beat the prisoner Tarial Sakvarelidze. Gamsakhurdia protests against the incident and requests the human rights defenders, lawyers and monitoring groups to study the situation in the hospital,” said the press-center of the party.

The law enforcement officers detained Tsotne Gamsakhurdia on October 27. He was accused of the attempt of the premeditated murder and illegal purchase-possession of a gun. He was sent to prison for 9 years and 5 months.
