Telavi District Court Satisfied Suit of Gela Mtivlishvili

May 11, 2010
Chairperson of the Telavi District Court Mamuka Tsiklauri satisfied the administrative suit of the journalist Gela Mtivlishvili. The judge ordered the person responsible for the public information to release the requested information to the journalist immediately.

The journalist requested public information about the judgments of the court which were passed in favor of the accused since 2007 to the end of April of 2010. The person responsible for the public information at the court refused him to release the information based on the decision of April 13, 2010.

“In order to find the materials you requested, we will need to systemize all cases and to work in the archive. It will require much time. Besides that, we would like to remind you that the court implements its activities in accordance to the current law. Consequently, the administration is busy with implementing its duties under the law. Taking the abovementioned into consideration, it is not urgently necessary for the court to mobilize additional resources to find the materials you request. Consequently, we cannot satisfy your request,” the reply of the court.

The requested information was handed to the journalist soon after the trial finished.
