On May 12, Rustavi and Gardabani district police worked very actively. The reason was first visit of the Alliance for Georgia in Kvemo Kartli region. Leaders of the Alliance for Georgia – Davit Gamkrelidze, Davit Usupashvili and Sozar Subari met citizens at various places in Rustavi. The law enforcement officers were more than supporters of the Alliance. They observed the movement of the opposition members from the distance.
“Here even one third of the people who support opposition parties have not come. People are afraid to lose job and peace in their families. These are not empty words. We have observed similar facts very often. I do not know who they see it from Tbilisi but it is true. We are taking a risk by coming to this meeting. Today, many people support the opposition parties from homes,” said Mzia Tsertsvadze, resident of Rustavi.
“The elections of May 30 are very important. They are important because we are electing the branch of the government which cooperate with the people most of all and knows the problems of people very well. The self-government shall decide where to spend budget and what is priority – construction of the road, house or social assistance to the people,” said Sozar Subari.
The citizens shall take part in the elections in Kvemo Kartli region by all means. It is the main message of the Alliance for Georgia. “If everybody goes to the elections, we will receive the positive result. Consequently, we will have better municipality boards,” said Davit Gamkrelidze.
The voters particularly focused on the oppression and social problems of the supporters of the opposition parties. People do not like employment of foreign workers in the local enterprises either. “If they speak about poverty reduction in the country, employment and creating new working places, why Indian people work in our factories,” asked Tamaz Lomineshvili from Rustavi.
