The Human Rights Center Requests to Dismiss Chairperson of the Election Commission in Kabali Village

May 17, 2010
Non-governmental organization Human Rights Center requests to dismiss Adalat Sardarov, the chairman of the election commission in Kabali village polling station # 1 in Lagodekhi district, from his position.

According to the human rights organizations on May 21, 2008 Adalat Sardarov physically assaulted the representatives of the Human Rights Center who observed the parliamentary elections in Lagodekhi district.

“When observers entered the polling station they could not find the ballot box there. Unauthoritative people armed with knives were in the PS. The observers requested the special journal to record their complaints in it. Sardarov did not allow them to write complaints, blamed them in interference in the polling process and forced them out of the PS under threat of iron chairs and axe.  The Lagodekhi district police department started investigation on the fact but without results,” statement of the human rights organization.

The Human Rights Center thinks that Sardarov shall not be the chairperson of the election commission. The organization calls upon the Central and Regional Election Commissions to dismiss Sardarov from the position in order to guarantee the fair elections and security of observers in the village.
