The Human Rights Center Sues Chairperson of the Kolagi Village Election Commission

May 20, 2010
Non-governmental organization Human Rights Center sues Ekaterine Nakevkhrishvili, the chairwoman of the election commission in the village of Kolagi in Gurjaani election district. The human rights organization blames the chairwoman in the misuse of the administrative resources in favor of the National Movement, the ruling party.

“Ekaterine Nakevkhrishvili is the specialist of the culture, education and social development department at Gurjaani municipal board. She has been on holiday since April 16 and the district election commission appointed her on the position of the chairperson of the election commission in Kolagi village. Despite that, Nakevkhrishvili visits her office, as well as the HQ of the National Movement, where she receives socially disabled people and promises social allowances them from the district budget. Besides that, Ekaterine Nakevkhrishvili still uses the corporative mobile phone,” the appeal of the Human Rights Center states.

When filing the complaint to the Gurjaani district election commission, the chairwoman of the commission Natalia Begashvili told the representative of the Human Rights Center that she would not satisfy their complaint.

The Commission will discuss the suit today at 2:00 pm.
