Polling Station Is in the Building of the Election HQ of the National Movement

May 20, 2010
The election commission of the Khodasheni polling station # 9 in the village of Atskuri in Akhmeta district and the HQ of the National Movement are located in the same building. The candidate of the ruling party in the village is the director of the Atskuri public school Bela Bakhbakhishvili. Interim director of the school Zaur Tsitelauri compels the teachers to carry out pre-election campaign in favor of the ruling party.

The commission member of the Khodasheni polling station # 9 from the Republic Party Leila Javakhishvili reported to us about the situation.

She said the opposition parties also have several supporters in the school; however, they are banned to do anything at all. Otherwise, they are threatened with dismissal from the school. “After I protested the fact, Zaur Tsitelauri warned me to keep silence or I would face problems at work,” said Leila Javakhishvili.

It is noteworthy, that interim director of Atskuri public school is the father of the head of the Akhmeta district administration office Iveri Tsitelauri. The latter is on holiday and works for the election HQ of the National Movement.
