Administrative Charge Might Be Imposed on Gurjaani District Prosecutor

May 24, 2010
Monitoring organization Transparency International – Georgia requests the Central Election Commission to react on the participation of Gurjaani district prosecutor Gela Lazashvili in the pre-election campaign of the National Movement.

The complaint filed by the TI-Georgia states that on April 29, the district prosecutor attended the introduction of the single mandate candidates of the National Movement in the Gurjaani culture center during working hours. It is violation of the Article 73 Part V – “d” of the Election Code of Georgia. According to the article, officials of the prosecutor’s offices of Georgia shall not take part in the pre-election campaign.

Zurab Kharatishvili said the CEC has already started administrative proceedings based on the complaint of the monitoring organization.
