Noghaideli’s Party Does Not Hurry to Pay Salary Arrears to the Activists

May 28, 2010
Noghaideli’s political party – Movement for the Just Georgia – could not receive the share from the 1 200 000 GEL which was granted by the government to the political parties to check the election lists throughout Georgia. However, with the initiative of the party leaders, they launched the program “Door by Door” and tried to check every person who had right to take part in the upcoming elections. Active supporters of the political party were mostly involved in this program and they had to receive certain amount of salary for their work. The program was launched in Imereti region in February and the activists informed the leaders of the political party about many violations.

The program was implemented throughout Imereti region. However, in several districts – Vani, Samtredia and Tskaltubo districts - the program was not carried out. The head of the Imereti regional office of the Movement for the Just Georgia Nika Sanodze stated: “After closing the printing houses and other famous incidents, the program was impossible to continue. It is our debt to the participants of this program. It is the reimbursement of their service which covers the travel expenses too.”

Before the elections, the participants of the program “Door by Door” became active in 8 districts of Imereti region; however, this time they request their salaries. A woman managed to get in touch with us who was an active participant of the “Door by Door” program in Baghdadi district. The woman kept her name anonymous and asked us to help her in the resolution of the problem. She had visited the Kutaisi office of the Movement several times and talked with the administration too; however, they only give promises and none of the activists received their salaries yet.

The Movement for the Just Georgia has debt to their activists in Kakheti and Shida Kartli regions too. The office of the political party admits this fact and declares that they would pay the arrears before the elections. The head of the Imereti regional office of the political party Nika Sanodze said that their pre-election campaign failed in Imereti region because of this debt. Despite that, they have their candidates in every district and expect the support of the population in the elections.
