“New Generation – New Initiative” Reported Less Ballot Papers Distributed than Registered Voters

The number of ballot papers are less than the number of the registered voters on the voters’ list,” the head of the organization “New Generation – New Initiative” Mikheil Devdariani reported about it at the press-conference.

Devdariani stated that in accordance to the law the number of the ballot papers shall be either equal or more than the number of registered voters in the country. Besides that; in Tbilisi, about 20 people are registered in each polling station for the portable ballot box and in most PS more ballot papers are brought then required for the portable ballot box.

“According to the law, the commission member shall take as many ballot papers as many voters are registered for the portable ballot box in the PS,” said Devdariani and added that in several polling stations started election procedure on the portable ballot box late.

Devdariani said that 5 polling stations were supplied with the ballot papers later and the CEC did not report about it timely. He said that violations were observed in Krtsanisi polling station # 31; in the polling station # 52 in Didube election district the observers encountered some problems; besides that, as Devdariani reported, several organizations have more than one observer in one PS and it is violation.

The New Generation –New Initiative have prepared more than 100 complaints so far.

The New Generation – New Initiative observes the elections with more than 1 300 observers. The next briefing will be held in the office of the organization at 1:00 pm.
