Observer of the Human Rights Center Was Physically Assaulted

May 30, 2010

In Lagodekhi election district, the commission member of the polling station # 18 in Kabali village physically assaulted the observer of the Human Rights Center Babulia Shaoshvili. Chairman of the commission Adalata Sardarov and representative of the Central Election Commission banned the observer to move in the polling station and requested her to stay in one place. Otherwise, they threatened her with eviction.

The Human Rights Center requests the CEC to guarantee the safety of their observers in Kabali polling station. The observers reported that commission members threaten them with physical assault if they file complaints to the commission.
