Ucha Nanuashvili: “They were Shameful Elections!”

June 1, 2010
The executive director of the Human Rights Center Ucha Nanuashvili assessed the municipal elections of 2010 as “shameful”. “It was everything but not elections,” Ucha Nanuashvili told the Kakheti News Center.

“100 observers of the Human Rights Center monitored the elections throughout Georgia. Some of the observers were in Kakheti region – in the villages populated by ethnic Azeri people. There were complete chaos and disorder in the polling stations; election carousel actively worked and commission chairpersons did not accept our complaints. The Sagarejo district election commission did not satisfy any of our complaints,” said Nanuashvili.

Today, at 3:00 pm the Human Rights Center will hold a special press-conference at the media center of the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs. At the press-conference the Center will present the final report on the elections and video-proofs on the violations in the villages of ethnic Azeri population in Kakheti region.
