Balghojiani Residents Protest against telecast of Imedi-TV

Protest demonstration is going on in the territory of the public school in the village of Balghojiani in Kvareli district. Part of the villagers and teachers of the school protest against the telecast of the morning news program of the Imedi-TV. According to the telecast, school director Zurab Tabagari was accused of rape attempt.

The villagers state that they demand the school director to fire the four teachers who blame him, and discredit the school and the village.

“I would rather have been shot. I have a family, the people know me very well. They could not spread similar rumors,” said the school director Zurab Tabagari.

In the afternoon it was reported that Zurab Tabagari had his functions suspended. Based on the appeal of several teachers, the Kvareli district police started investigation under Article 141 of the Criminal Code of Georgia – “depraved behavior”. Gurjaani district prosecutor’s office supervises the investigation process. The officials of the prosecutor’s office stated that criminal liability has not been launched against Zurab Tabagari.
