Will Human Rights Defender Be A Minister?

June 10, 2010
On June 15, several ministers might resign. On June 14-15-16 the parliamentary fraction “National Movement” will have a session in Batumi. According to the lobby information, the president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili will attend the meeting of majority members of the parliament.

Reportedly, the majority members and the president will decide which minister will maintain his/her position and who will resign. Nobody speaks about the personnel changes officially yet. However, according to the spread information, two or three ministers will have to resign.

We might see a new face in the government and it might be Vera Kobalia whom the Georgian society knows very well (She is an IDP from Abkhazia; together with her family Kobalia lived in Canada; recently, she returned to Georgia and started an NGO in support of IDPs).

Vera Kobalia currently works on the IDP rights and is going to send appeals to the international court.
