Supporters of Manana Archvadze-Gamsakhurdia Are Still in Prison

June 14, 2010
On June 11, the three supporters of the widow of the first president of Georgia Zviad Gamsakhurdia, Manana Archvadze- Gamsakhurdia, were arrested. They were blocking the road at the corner of Lesia Ukrainka Street.

The press-center of Manana Archvadze-Gamsakhurdia’s supporters reported that Inga Sikharulidze, Natia Maisuradze and Irakli Shonia were arrested. They said that the policemen groundlessly dispersed and detained the demonstrators.

Supporters of Archvadze-Gamsakhurdia hold permanent demonstrations in front of the parliament to request release of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, the son of the late president.

On June 12, supporters of Archvadze-Gamsakhurdia renewed the demonstration with the request of liberating the detainees. They said that Inga Sikharulidze, Natia Maisuradze and Irakli Shonia are still in prison; they do not have attorneys and demonstrators do not have information about them.

The detainees will be supposedly released after an administrative fine is paid.
