Workers Returned to the Factory

June 17, 2010
Workers returned to their places in Kutaisi Metallurgic Factory. They stopped their strike on June 16 after the factory administration gave them some promises.

“We were promised to receive our salary arrears at the end of the month and to have our working conditions improved. It is bad that our colleagues were imprisoned for the protest. They have been in administrative detention for the fifth day already. We also wanted to refuse to return to the factory in solidarity to them, but we realized that it would not bring much good to us and could not assist the detainees either. Simply, it is bad that you are imprisoned because you request your salary,” said the workers of the Metallurgic Factory.

Protest demonstration was held last week and it ended with the detention of 7 people. The strikers protested the working conditions in the factory and salary arrears. They refuse to enter the work-shops.
