Same Chairpersons of the Municipal Board and District Governors

June 21, 2010
As a result of the municipal elections in Adjara Autonomous Republic, the chairpersons of the municipal boards were changed in three districts –Khelvachauri, Kobuleti and Khulo districts. Old chairpersons remained on their positions in other two districts and in Batumi City Council.

Malkhaz Partenadze is the chairperson of Khelvachauri district municipal board; Nodar Tavartkiladze is in Khulo district. Niko Beridze is the chairman of the Kobuleti town council.

The district governors and Batumi City Mayor were not changed either.

District governors were the first on the election lists of the United National Movement on May 30 in their districts. They are: Teimuraz Dumbadze – in Khelvachauri; Vasil Tavartkiladze in Kobuleti, Irakli Baramidze – in Keda; Omar Megrelidze - in Shuakhevi; Levan Abashidze – in Khulo.

Local population states that seeing old faces on the high positions was not strange for them. “Why did they hold elections and spend so much money on it?! Those people who the government wanted occupied the positions again.”
