Parliamentary Majority Confirms Privatization of Gas Pipe-Line

July 1, 2010
Member of the parliamentary majority Lasha Tordia confirms the planned privatization of the gas pipe-line and removal of the corresponding state institutions from the list.

“In old time, dams, “Telasi” (Tbilisi Electricity Distribution Company) and similar entities were state properties and neither gas nor electricity was supplied to the population. The energetic problems were resolved in the country after the entities were privatized. In future, privatization of the gas pipe-line is also possible but it should be done in compliance with the law and state interests,” Tordia reported to the “Pirveli” who thinks that we should not think about strategic importance of the entity now.

Tordia is one of the authors of the new draft-law on Privatization of State Property where the gas pipe line was removed from the list of entities which cannot be privatized.
