July 7, 2010
On July 6, the leaders of the opposition political parties were dismissed from the court hearing of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia’s case at the Tbilisi Appeal Court; the leaders were fined with 100 GEL. The attorney of Gamsakhurdia Keti Bekauri reported about it.

Bekauri said that the fined politicians are: Konstantine Gamsakhurdia, Sandro Bregadze, Gia Gachechiladze, Eka Beselia, Aleko Shalamberidze, Soso Shatberashvili, Kakha Kukava, Lasha Chkhartishvili and Koka Guntsadze. Besides politicians the judge imposed fine on the victim Davit Bajelidze and other attendees of the court hearing; 40 people were fined in total.

Bekauri said that before imposing fines Judge Manana Otarashvili dismissed accused Tsotne Gamsakhurdia from the courtroom.

“The judge did not allow Tsotne Gamsakhurdia to read the statement. She thought the accused was going to read political statement and dismissed him from the court room. The victim Bajelidze protested the decision of the judge and left the room. The judge ordered the bailiffs to follow the victim who seized ID and fined him. After that, the judge announced break for 5-10 minutes. It was very hot in the hall and people decided to go out. After that judge fined everybody,” said Bekauri.

As for the court hearing, Bekauri said the judge satisfied the motion on interrogation two witnesses – doctors. The next trial is scheduled for July 19.

Tsotne Gamsakhurdia appealed the verdict of the Tbilisi City Court according to which he is put in prison for 9 years for the attempted murder and illegal purchase-possession of gun.
