Farmers Pay Double Price for the Service of New Technique

July 7, 2010
Farmers cannot reap harvest in Shiraki district, Kakheti region. They reported to the Kakheti News Center that they do not have enough technique. Besides that, they have to pay 100 GEL for the service of the tractors presented by the president in one hectare of the land. They pay 80 GEL for the service and 20 GEL for the fuel.

“When they created a new service-center, they promised we would not have problems to reap harvest. Many of us have been waiting their terms for two weeks already and they will have to wait two more weeks. The price of the service has also doubled in comparison to the old technique. Because of high price we have to leave our harvest in the plot because it not good enough to spend so much money on it,” said the farmers.

This year the average harvest of wheat in one hectare of land was one tone. The price of one kilo wheat is 38-40 tetri. Last year it cost 33 tetri.
