“The 13th District in Georgian”

On 12th of March 18:00, The Human Rights Center (HRIDC) is pleased to invite you at the Office of the Public Defender of Georgia to the presentation of a film by Giorgi Janelidze, prepared at HRIDC TV “The 13th District in Georgian”

On the 5th of October 2009, the internet media outlet, presa.ge published an article by Nino Mikiashvili with the headline: “Mr. President, Why Did the Member of Your Guard Kill My Son?” The publication reviewed the death of Vasil Amonashvili, the member of the security service of the National Agency of Public Registry.

On the 11th of June 2008, Amonashvili, 30, became the victim of the fight in one of the blocks of Moscow Avenue in Tbilisi. The Victim’s mother and aunt claim that Berdzenishvili brothers were involved in the murder. One of the brothers, Merab, is the member of the guard of the President of Georgia the other, Vaja, being the policeman.
After a year and a half from the murder the official investigation is not completed yet.

“The 13th District in Georgian” tries to investigate the reasons and circumstances of Amonashvilis’ death.

The film will be provided in Georgian, with English subtitles.
