July 28, 2010

On July 29 the Open Society Georgia Foundation office is going to host the presentation of another journalism investigation President's Symbolic Presents produced by the Monitor Studio.

The journalism investigation covers the direct transfer of the state property by President Saakashvili. According to the documentation gleaned by the Studio for the last three years President has transferred tens of real estate properties whose total value amounts to tens of million of Georgian Lari.

According to the documentary Mikheil Saakashvili granted Alania TV a commercial lot in Mtatsminda at a symbolic price of USD 1. Moreover the lawyers of the Constitutional Court have been transferred living houses at a symbolic price, while the Georgian legislation doesn't envisage the transfer of the state property at a symbolic price.

In addition the journalism investigation tells about Real TV premises. According to the documentary Real TV is located in a three-storey building in Gorgasali Street in Tbilisi. The house doesn't belong to Real TV, it's the property of the family of David Kekua, former high official of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The film features how the house found itself in the hands of Real TV.

In October 2007 General Mayor David Kekua being behind bars for falsification the crime hanged himself in the prison cell in a very strange situation.
