August 10, 2010
According to the statement made by Kakha Khvistani, the lawyer of the former parliament member Nikoloz Kvezereli, his client is innocent. The lawyer states, that Korean businessman is lying to the Georgian legal officers. The Court passed two month preliminary sentence against Kvezereli just to show off that Georgia maximally protects the interests of investors.

“The investigation didn’t even ask a question whether or not Kvezereli admits his guilt. The prosecutor didn’t even touch this subject. The partner of Kvezereli has serious financial problems in his own country. He’s lying to Georgian legal officers. The money taken out of the pocket of Kvezereli was the lawyer’s fee needed for the court dispute,” – states Nikoloz Kvezereli’s lawyer.

According to him, as for the question why Kvezereli was not released on bail, “According to the practice, since Korean is an investor, the court decision can be explained based on the fact – “The interests of the investors are maximally protected in the country.’’ As soon as his false investorship is revealed and the motivation of his action is found out, the investigation will make a decision to immediately release Kvezereli,” – indicates Kakha Khvistani.
