The US consul recommends not addressing the mediator for obtaining the US visa

August 11, 2010
Consular Chief Officer of the US Embassy Patrick Wingate strongly recommends not using visa "facilitators," whose services are unnecessary, often fraudulent, and could possibly damage the chances of being granted a U.S. visa. Instead, Mr. Wingate advocates the easy and convenient process of using the online application and answering honestly all of the questions on the form. He stated this on Georgian Public Radio.

The U.S. Consular Chief reminded listeners that "Green Card Lottery" is completely free and anyone interested can apply through the official State Department website, www.dvlottery.state.gov. He cautioned listeners to avoid any other websites that claim they can obtain the Green Card for you in exchange for a fee.
